Frequently Asked Questions
What is person-centred counselling?
It is a non-directive approach which means that I will not tell you what to do, nor give you any homework. Through openness and providing a warm welcome, I aim to provide an environment in which you can come to feel safe, so you can share what is troubling you, free from fear of judgement or control.
The idea is that the relationship provides the therapy. That through feeling understood by an independent another, you can travel the path to better understanding of yourself and your feelings. This would be emotional work that we would do together.
How much do you charge?
I offer an initial 30 minute telephone call, free of charge, with no obligation to continue. This is for you to share your reasons for seeking therapy and to see whether we would like to work together. Thereafter, I charge £45 for a face-to-face session of one hour. If you would like a longer session, I can offer 90 minutes for £65, when available.

Sessions are usually weekly, and can be booked as we go, for as long or as little as you wish. My preferred payment method is online bank transfer.
Where are you located and are the rooms accessible?
I work from a therapy room at my home in Carlton (NG4) in Nottingham, around 4 miles northeast of the city centre. The location is well served by public transport from Nottingham city centre and there is well lit on street car parking directly in front of the property. I provide transport information upon enquiry.
The therapy room is upstairs on the first floor. The property also has ten outside steps to access the front door, therefore is unsuitable for wheelchair users.
Are you Covid safe?
The room I work from is well ventilated between clients, with touchpoints including door handles hygienically wiped between each use. The seats are positioned socially distanced apart.
I provide antibacterial hand gel for use on arrival. I am fully vaccinated for Covid-19 and I conduct lateral flow tests as required.
Do you work online or over the telephone?
After the initial telephone consultation, I prefer to work face-to-face as I believe it better helps communication and the relationship to develop. However if you prefer online or telephone counselling, please let me know so we can arrange this in a secure way.
